How many of us grew up watching and/or reading Harry Potter? Too many! We bet just like ours, the magical world of Harry Potter made your life better too!
The last of the HP movies came out a decade ago, leaving the fans in tears and with bittersweet feelings. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a two-part play, with the plot set nineteen years after the last novel was premiered in 2016. This play caused mayhem among the die-hard fans, who wanted books and movies, not a play! Especially not one without The Golden Trio of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint! And the apple of our eye, Tom Felton.
Although these people have grown up to become amazing actors with successful acting careers, they’re still well known for their roles in the Harry Potter movies. They’ve shaped our lives in simple, beautiful ways.
Harry Potter has been a reason for joy in many people’s lives. Through the page or through the big screen, Harry Potter is always a doorway to a world filled with magic, adventures and wonders. But what about those who cannot see the movies or read the books by themselves?
For this very reason, the books are now being transcribed into braille to bring joy into the lives of the visually impaired, so that they too can experience and enjoy the adventurous world of Harry Potter without having to depend on others. A little girl named Emrie from Kansas recently received a braille copy of Harry Potter as a Christmas present. Her reaction the moment she realises what her present is, is absolutely priceless! She seems very excited to read the books by herself! Check out the video attached below.
This shows how much things like Audiobooks, Braille books, podcasts and Audio Descriptions are important. But Braille books are not that commonly available, thus difficult to access and very expensive to get new ones. Many of us have so far been unaware of this heart-breaking fact. But from now, it’s time to be aware and helpful for an important cause like this.
Let us know in the comments how Harry Potter changed your life, what this video of the little girl made you feel and what new thing you learned recently. We'd love to know!
